Indoor work starts with the room conditions
Interior painting can be arranged in different seasons when application and ventilation conditions are suitable. Cold, humidity and restricted ventilation can alter the sequence. One universal drying time cannot describe every coating and room.
For an occupied flat, identify the rooms needed each evening and how the work area will be separated. If the apartment is empty, confirm access and utilities. A coat being finished does not automatically mean the room is ready for every use; agree the handover conditions before booking furniture delivery.
For exterior work, inspect the wall as well as the forecast
A sun-exposed wall can be in different conditions from the shaded spot where air temperature is checked. Rain risk, frost and the material’s application limits affect the decision. The relevant protection period after application matters too.

Choose a workable window, not just a month.
Allow for wind, dust and building logistics
Strong wind and dust can affect surface cleanliness and the safe organisation of exterior work. A wall cleaned earlier may need reassessment after a dust event. Ask your representative for current conditions rather than relying on last month’s inspection photographs.
Confirm building access, working arrangements and material availability in advance. Do not assume that every contractor or supplier follows the same August closure pattern. If you are arranging the work from abroad, a named local contact helps resolve an access problem without losing a visit.
Build a plan around your arrival, with room to adjust
Milder spring or autumn periods can be useful starting points for discussing exterior work, but calendar dates do not guarantee conditions. Send the key-availability date, your arrival date and any fixed cleaner, tenant or guest arrival separately.
Ask which stages are weather-dependent and how changes will be communicated. A sensible plan distinguishes interior work, exterior work and repairs that must happen first. Leave flexibility where possible; a flight booking cannot make an unsuitable application window suitable.
